WHAT ARE FILLERS USED FOR?
Fillers can be used to enhance many areas of the face. Filler can add volume to areas of the face that have volume loss or never had volume, such as the lips or cheeks and chin. It also can be used to fill lines and wrinkles. It is different than Botox and other neurotoxins in that it adds structure, volume, and can change shape to the face, whereas the neurotoxins only work on wrinkles by relaxing muscle movement.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED FILLER?
Ask a provider about a complimentary consultation to decide how fillers can be used to enhance your look and accentuate your natural features.
HOW LONG DOES FILLER LAST?
In the lips, filler typically lasts 6-12 months but is always dependent on individual patient metabolism of the filler.
In the cheeks, chin, or jawline filler can last 9-18 months.
WHICH LIP FILLER APPOINTMENT SHOULD I BOOK?
At Refine we specialize in what we call the "Baby Lip". In short, it's just a more conservative amount of filler placed very strategically to give a more natural looking amount of volume and subtle definition.
This is a good option for those who want lip filler but aren't looking for drastic change or who have small lips to start. It's also a good place to start if you are fearful of fillers because you don't want to look "too different".
The cost is $450.
WHAT IF I WANT MORE?
The good news with filler is you can always add more!
If you receive the baby lip you can always come back in 2-3 weeks and receive an additional 1/2 syringe for $200.
If you need a touch up, you can come back in within 9 months to get another half for $300 as a continued Refine patient.
We are happy to do filler this way and believe conservative approaches not only lead to better results for you in the long run, but they minimize complication risks and the risk of filler migration from having too much filler placed at one time.
OR you can always receive a full syringe of filler at your first appointment if deemed appropriate by your provider based on your goals and desired outcome.
The cost for a full syringe of lip filler is $650.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
Any injections always run the risk of bruising and swelling. To minimize your risk for each you can avoid alcohol and NSAIDS for 1 week prior to your appointment.
POST-INJECTION some things you can do to minimize bruising and swelling are to take any histamine blockers (allegra, zyrtec, claritin, bendadryl, or pepcid).
Swelling usually resolves in 2-3 days and for some people is actually quite minimal. Bruising is always patient dependent. We recommend oral arnica supplements taken before and after that are available for purchase from your local health food store.
WILL IT HURT?
We use a topical numbing preparation that we have compounded especially for these types of injectable procedures. Most patients are completely comfortable and almost always report that it "wasn't as bad as they expected".
